8/6/2020 – Delivery/First outing.

After taking delivery, we had to make sure we had everything we needed before going to a campground. As soon as we had all the camper setup supplies we made the reservations for our maiden voyage on August 13th for the 14th and 15th. It was an electric site only so we got a crash course in how to (or we need to find a better way to) fill up our fresh water tank.

NEED TO FINISH THIS

June 29, 2020 – Finding the first Travel Trailer

We had decided to move forward with our ideas about getting an RV. Though we had gone to see some the previous October and got ideas on monthly payments vs. purchase price of the RV, what we liked/wanted for floor plans, and what we should be able to tow with the truck we had purchased the year before. After searching the websites of the dealers in the area to find units that fit all the criteria, we found a few we were wanting to go look at in person.

We first ended up at Camping World in Council Bluffs, IA, we looked at a few models we thought we may be interested in of various lengths. There was no way I was going to buy anything until I had looked at everything in our budget. Second, we checked out A.C. Nelsen across the Missouri River in Omaha, NE. We had a couple of model numbers we really wanted to check out, but they were super busy that weekend. The receptionist took down our names and cell number and said as soon as a salesperson was free, she would send them to call or find us and told us we can go ahead and look at any and all the RV’s on the lot while we wait. After walking around for a bit we found the brand we wanted to look at (Gray Wolf). Since we didn’t find the one we were looking for we peeked inside a few and some were other brands that were surrounding the Gray Wolfs we found. We walked into a toy hauler, right away I knew that’s not what we wanted but it must have been from the Cherokee line up because the bathroom and the bedroom were identical to the one we were looking at. Me be claustrophobic I wanted a bathroom that spanned the width of the trailer. This trailer alone made me happy to continue to look for the model we were trying to find. As we were discussing that I was okay with this bathroom but not the rest of this particular trailer, a salesman popped his head in and asked if he could be of some assistance. He was quick at helping us find the model we came to check out (23MK). After I said I liked it and could deal with the size, the salesman told us he could show us a similar model that was a little longer and the price wasn’t too much more (26MK). We looked at the other model, though I liked the space, we decided the 23MK was cheaper and would fit our needs so we put a down payment on it and filled out the loan application.

A week or so later the dealership called us to say that our trailer had arrived at the dealer. Given the time of year, they were behind on doing the walk throughs and couldn’t get us scheduled until August 6th. We were super excited and couldn’t wait.
